the name and url of this blog. Jesus is better than anything in the world

As this is the first post to this blog, here is just the explanations for the blog's url and for the title of the blog, both coming from the latin language, wich i do not know.

the url, http://tergadare.blogspot.com/
terga dare : to flee, retreat, run away.

the name, Absum in saeculo
absum : to be absent, be away, be missing.
in saeculo : in the times "In the secular world", that is, outside a monastery, or before death.

translations/ meanings of phrases from:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Latin_phrases:_I#in_saeculo
http://www.math.ubc.ca/~cass/frivs/latin/latin-dict-full.html

i would also like to say that i wish to be less "into the present world" and more into The Kingdom of God

and here are some dear verses from The Bible:

Let not your heart envy sinners: but be you in the fear of The LORD all the day long. For surely there is an end; and your expectation shall not be cut off.
-Proverbs 23:17-18

Be not you envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
Fret not yourself because of evil men, neither be you envious at the wicked
-Proverbs 24:1 & 19

Fret not yourself because of evildoers, neither be you envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
-Psalm 37:1-2

Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father
-Galatians 1:3-4

I have been put to death on the cross with Christ; still I am living; no longer I, but Christ is living in me; and that life which I now am living in the flesh I am living by faith, the faith of the Son of God, who in love for me, gave Himself up for me.
-Galatians 2:20

This I say therefore, and testify in The Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind
-Ephesians 4:17

If you then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with him in glory. Mortify therefore your members which are on the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience
-Colossians 3:1-6

For our conversation is in heaven; from where also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like to His glorious body, according to the working whereby He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
-Philippians 3:20-21

These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from where they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: why God is not ashamed to be called their God: for He has prepared for them a city.
-Hebrews 11:13-16

Therefore, since we are receiving a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe
-Hebrews 12:28

My loved ones, i make this request with all my heart, that, as those for whom this world is a strange country, you will keep yourselves from the desires of the flesh which make war against the soul
-1 Peter 2:11

Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness. Why, beloved, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent that you may be found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the long-suffering of our Lord is salvation
-
2 Peter 3:13-15

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God stays for ever.
-1 John 2:15-17

And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
-Romans 12:2

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He takes the wise in their own craftiness.
-1 Corinthians 3:19

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ
-2 Corinthians 10:3-5

And in the days of those kings, the God of heaven will put up a Kingdom which will never come to destruction, and its power will never be given into the hands of another people, and all these kingdoms will be broken and overcome by it, but it will keep its place for ever.
-Daniel 2:44

For bodily exercise profits little: but godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
-1 Timothy 4:8

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. But seek you first The Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient to the day is the evil thereof.
-Matthew 6:31-34

And that sown toward the thorns, this is he who is hearing the word, and the anxiety of this age, and the deceitfulness of the riches, do choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
-Matthew 13:22

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you: I give it not as the world gives. Let not your heart be troubled; let it be without fear.
-John 14:27

No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. And the pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided Him. And He said to them, You are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knows your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
-Luke 16:15

when the Son of man comes, shall He find faith on the earth? -Luke 18:8

  1. The first photo is a screenshot from Google Book Search viewing page 42 from the book "The New Testament Moses: Christian perceptions of Moses and Israƫl in the setting of Jewish religion" by John Lierman.

The second picture, with the hand holding an hourglass to the world, is of unkown origin to me.

  2. For the love of Christ constrains us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
And that He died for all, that they which live should not from now on live to themselves, but to Him which died for them, and rose again.

Why from now on know we no man after the flesh: yes, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now from now on know we Him no more.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
    And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them; and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead,
be you reconciled to God. For He has made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

    -2 Corinthians 5:14-21

  3. I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor. Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.
    Ecclesiastes 2:10-11

  4. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith–more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire–may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

  5. Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us His Holy Spirit.

    -1 Thessalonians 4:1-8

The LORD bless you, and keep you: The LORD make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you: The LORD lift up His countenance on you, and give you peace.

About Me

My photo
JESUS SAVES! - All GOD's works show forth His praises. HE satisfies the desire of every living thing, except the unreasonable children of men, who are satisfied with nothing. HE does good to all the children of men; His own people in a special manner. Many children of GOD, who have been ready to fall into sin, to fall into despair, have tasted His goodness in preventing their falls, or recovering them speedily by His graces and comforts. And with respect to all that are heavy laden under the burden of sin, if they come to CHRIST by faith, HE will ease them, HE will raise them. HE is very ready to hear and answer the prayers of His people. HE is present every where; but in a special way HE is near to them, as HE is not to others. HE is in their hearts, and dwells there by faith, and they dwell in Him. HE is near to those that call upon Him, to help them in all times of need. HE will be close to them, that they may have what they ask, and find what they seek, if they call upon Him in truth and sincerity.
